The NDSU Staff Senate originated from a Staff Senate Steering Committee that was organized in the fall of 1988 as a group of classified staff involved in the NDSU presidential search. As the group met with the presidential candidates, specific staff related needs were discussed. One of the issues was the need for a voice, similar to that of the Faculty [University] Senate and Student Senate.
